Yesterday saw the Primary School MILO T20 Blast School Cup State Finals take place at the hallowed WACA Ground, with 8 schools in the boys and girls division all competing to be crowned State Champions and win the exclusive trip to Melbourne!

A massive congratulations to the 16 teams that made it through to the State Finals which is a fantastic achievement considering we have approximately 25000 students participating in MILO T20 Blast School Cups across the state.

With the sun out, the day was set up perfectly for the teams to bring out all their skills and put on a show! Both the girls and boys divisions really left it all out on the field with some excellent bowling, batting and fielding which was great to see. In particular the skills shown by the girls was extremely encouraging for female cricket in WA!

It was great to see so many family members also come along to support their school, which created for a fantastic atmosphere!

With schools divided into two pools, the winning school in each pool after four rounds would take on each other in the Grand Final for a place in the National Finals.

In the girls division, Bletchley Park PS and Wembley PS were both unbeaten in their respective pools and took eachother on in the finals. The girls from Bletchley Park proved to be too strong and eventually took out the win to be crowned 2016 State Champions and on their way to Melbourne!

In the boys division, Wembley PS once again featured in the final against Melville PS, with both schools remaining unbeaten in their respective pools. However, after a hard fought match Melville were crowned State Champions, with Wembley unlucky to miss out in both the finals.

A huge congratulations to our 2016 State Champions Bletchley Park PS and Melville PS, who will be on their way to the National Finals to play on the world famous MCG on Monday 5th December and we wish them both the best of luck!

Congratulations and thank you once again to all the schools that participated in the MILO T20 Blast School Cups across the state and to those that made it through the Regional and State Finals. It is fantastic to see so many schools getting involved and we look forward to your continued involvement!

This year is the 3rd season that this initiative has been run with funding from Cricket Australia. We look forward to hearing further regarding the potential of the National Finals day continuing on in 2017.
