2017 PS Regional Finals Wrap Up - State Finalists Decided!

10 Nov 2017 by Claire Skea

The Year 5&6 MILO T20 Blast School Cup Regional Finals were held yesterday on Thursday 9th November at Yokine Reserve. A total of 66 teams (33 boys and 33 girls) participated, with all vying to be crowned regional winners and progress through to the State Finals. Congratulations to all the schools that made it through to Regional Finals, which in itself is a fantastic achievement!

It was a great day out for all involved and students sure did put on a show, with plenty of fours and sixes being hit and wickets taken! The spirit in which all the games were played is to be commended and congratulations to all the participants for putting on a fantastic spectacle!

At the end of the day, only 7 schools each from the boys and girls division could be crowned Regional Winners and with plenty of tight contests it was a close call with some schools narrowly missing out.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following schools who will be heading through to the State Finals at world famous WACA Ground:-

GIRLS REGIONAL WINNERS
• Sutherland Dianella PS
• Deanmore PS (A)
• Hocking PS
• Bletchley Park PS
• Melville PS
• Our Lady of Mt Carmel
• Huntingdale PS

BOYS REGIONAL WINNERS
• North Perth PS (A)
• Deanmore PS (A)
• Gidgegannup PS
• South Perth PS
• Melville PS
• East Waikiki PS
• Huntingdale PS

The State Finals will be taking place on Friday 17th November at the WACA. Our State Champions will receive an exciting opportunity to participate in the NextGen Initiative during one of the Big Bash matches.

A reminder that if you have any girls that are keen to get involved in cricket, then please let us know as we would love to work with the girls or your school to point them in the right direction and get them into our female pathway. It is an exciting time to get involved in female cricket, with plenty of opportunities and it would be hugely appreciated if teachers could encourage girls that are interested, to get their friends together and sign up to their local club together. There is also an opportunity for schools to enter teams into the Perth Scorchers Girls League competition under the school banner and potentially receive up to $2000 in funding during the application period (currently closed for this year, however will open up again next year). The competition is split into two seasons (spring & summer) which is essentially Term 4 and Term 1, where schools can enter one or both of the competitions. Games are then played on a Saturday morning. If you are interested in entering teams under the school banner, then please don’t hesitate to contact the us.

Thank you and congratulations once again to our State Finalists and best of luck for the State Finals!

If you have any queries regarding our School Programs please don’t hesitate to contact your School Programs Officer, Regional Cricket Manager or myself.
